Body organs aren't all internal like the brain or the heart. There's one we wear on the outside. Skin is our largest organ—adults carry some 8 pounds (3.6 kilograms) and 22 square feet (2 square meters) of it. This fleshy covering does a lot more than make us look presentable. In fact, without it, we'd literally evaporate.

Skin acts as a waterproof, insulating shield, guarding the body against extremes of temperature, damaging sunlight, and harmful chemicals. It also exudes antibacterial substances that prevent infection and manufactures vitamin D for converting calcium into healthy bones. Skin additionally is a huge sensor packed with nerves for keeping the brain in touch with the outside world. At the same time, skin allows us free movement, proving itself an amazingly versatile organ.

Shea butter is the skin Superfood.  Shea butter can be used for massage butter, to heal chapped lips and on hair & scalp just to name a few uses.

Our Story

It started in 2012 when our first son was born.  His skin was very dry.  Being a new mom, it was quite frustrating when the "obvious" and advised solutions were either not working or working very, very slowly. In the meantime, his cheeks got so dry they began to crack and bleed and his diaper rash caused his skin to become red and irritated with some open sores.  I started desperately searching for natural and other not so natural solutions. I needed a solution ASAP. I came across raw Shea butter and to my surprise it listed diaper cream as one of its uses. I bought a jar of raw Shea butter from a local market and after his bath we lathered it on our son's face and bottom.

The next morning I was anxious to see how he was doing, since I didn't hear him the night before.  As you would guess, I was gleefully excited when I noticed that all open sores had closed and stopped bleeding and his skin was healing! I was so excited! I have not used anything else on our children's skin, but Shea butter. Raw Shea butter, as you know, can be very hard in texture and difficult to apply to a large area.  Shortly after falling for raw Shea butter, I discovered how to make whipped Shea butter.  Whipped Shea butter is the perfect combination of the usefulness of Shea butter with the ease of application to small or large areas of the body. With two active boys this was a must for our family.  We use our whipped Shea butter for everything everyday. Really. Think Portokalos family and Windex!
